Denise brings 10 seasons of paddling experience to Organized Chaos as a coach, paddler and steers person
Denise was introduced to the sport in 2009, the year Randy and Lori Crow founded the Healing Dragons. Dee was invited to and attended the Team’s first meeting. Except for Randy and Lori, not one of us had ever seen an actual dragon boat let alone set foot in one. Collectively we brainstormed searching for a Team name and that evening the Healing Dragons moniker was born. That season Dee paddled with the Healing Dragons and practiced with and competed on the then concept team of Organized Chaos (OC).
Dee became the first Member elected President of OC at the close of 2010. Under her leadership, the governing structure of Organized Chaos took shape. The Chaos Mission Statement, By Laws and Articles of Incorporation were written, approved and filed with the state of North Carolina. Before term end, our Federal 501(c)3 non-profit application was filed with the IRS.
As paddler, Dee represented Team USA in Milan 2012 returning home with two Bronze Medals and one Silver. A month before leaving for Italy, Dee founded and incorporated North Carolina’s first and only LGBTQ non-profit paddle organization. At the Great White North Orlando races, after competing in Milan, Dee was personally invited by ICF Head Coach Mike Blundetto to compete in Kiev on the 2013 USA Club Crew Team. A year later, Dee qualified to compete on Team USA for the 2014 races in Poznan. Sadly, USA pulled out of the Kiev Races and in 2014 Dee was focused on and committed to the success of her paddlers and the expansion of her rocketing second year Non-Profit. Dee has affiliations with and occasionally steers festivals for Dynamic Dragon Boat and the 22Dragons.
When not Dragon Boating, Dee enjoys outrigger (OC 2 & 6), bogie boarding and hitting the links.
After leaving college, Denise began her professional career on Wall Street working in International Finance and Securities Clearance. Although Dee enjoyed her near decade’s long experience and making both life-long friends and memories, working in an office environment was soul crushing. Dee left banking and wound up becoming one of only a handful of female Courier\Drivers for Federal Express in New York City. Years later, after a move to Central New Jersey, Dee went to work for a small IT firm that specialized in software for the Fenestration Industry. Her job as an Integration Specialist and Project Manager afforded her the opportunity to: continue learning, grow as a trainer, travel across the country, Canada and Europe, enjoy and up her golf game and ultimately move to North Carolina where she discovered dragon boat. Thank you PMC Software and thank you Randy and Lori Crow!
Denise is retired from Fedex and currently works as a Private Contractor.
